USA Loses Audi Q3 SUV Production to Spain

The United States has lost the production of 2011′s Audi Q3 SUV to Spain. USA car production can’t get a break! According to Left Lane News, “Audi announced on Wednesday that its Martorell, Spain plant will begin producing the Q3 in 2011. The Martorell plant currently produces Seat vehicles, according to Automotive News. VW is the parent company of both Audi and Seat. Although U.S. production is off the table for now, Audi will revisit the proposition in the coming years. Audi has set the internal goal of selling 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. by 2018, with U.S. production being a major part of that plan.”

So all may not be lost for now, but in the mean time it seems the United States is taking hit after hit when it comes to finding new opportunities in the Automotive industry, either by US based companies or foreign. Automotive News explains that “it remains possible that VW could share its new Tennessee plant – set to open in 2011 — with Audi.” Cross your fingers and vote for job building folks!
