Audi A8 W12 Exclusive, Jason Statham Ready

The Transporter may be riding in one of these when another film comes out, as the Audi A8 L W12 Exclusive hits 2011′s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Audi has said they will only produce 50 units of this A8 L W12 concept, each emblazoned individually with an identifying serial number, and “Audi Exclusive Concept” lettering. Audi A8 L W12 Exclusive will reportedly be powered by a 6.3 liter W12 gas engine, producing an astounding 493 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque. That’s about as powerful as the regular A8 W12 – so what makes it extra special?

A “highly-refined interior finish” complete with the best leather money can buy dons the interior. The finish comes from Italian design house Poltrona Frau.

The seats are a Cognac-colored leather, highlighted with granite gray piping. Olive ash wood inlays come in a light gray-brown veneer, in addition to a leather finish on dashboard, center console, door trims and seat consoles.

Audipedia is so hyped about the 2011 Audi A8 we can’t even think of a catchy title to give this post! It’s not even 2010 and already the Audi A8 for 2011 has premiered, with fans of German Engineering drooling. Complete with intricate interior “mood” lighting, satellite imaging NAV system and a powerful V8 (and future W12) this new Audi is loaded from fender to fender.

One of the key ingredients in the A8′s state of the art tech is the “pedestrian detection”
system, which can demonstrate dynamic range adjustment when a possible collision with person/animal/bicyclist/etc is imminent. An onboard computer also includes handwriting recognition for directions – sweet!

According to the official press release, “Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships in late 2010, the initial engine offering is the well known 4.2 FSI V8 with 273 kW (372 hp). The standard transmission is an all-new eight speed tiptronic coupled to the latest generation quattro all wheel drive as standard. 0-100km/h (62 mph) arrives in 5.7 seconds while Audi is claiming an estimated 15 percent improvement in fuel consumption versus the current A8 (EPA figures TBD).”

With that engine capability you shouldn’t expect a 45mpg ride, but the numbers for previous Audi models’ EPA rating have increased steadily over many years. So, fear not eco-commuter, you can have your green Earth and an A8 too!

Audi Fail – This Is Overkill

The problem with being a car nut is that you want to accessorize your vehicle to the point where it may be obnoxious. At least, that’s what this Audi A6 driver had in mind while checking the scrap yards and asking themselves, “Say, I bet that over-sized fiberglass bumper would look great on my luxury sports coupe.”

This so called Audi A9 is not a new concept, it’s the freakiest Frankenstein conversion we’ve seen since The Ecto-1. In all honesty, the rear end isn’t too obnoxious, but check out the front – squared lighting structure and an butt-ugly 80′s looking grill are insanely cringe-inducing. This is an Audi Fail.

All New Audi A8 Gets an Upgrade

The new Audi A8 is getting an equipment upgrade, including new leather seating and wider wheel base, which would make Transporter’s Jason Statham heart melt. Of course, these extras will cost you anywhere from €2,000 pounds to upwards of 9,600 (or $2,800 to 12,300 in USD). Check out full details in the Audi Press Release below.

New design and equipment packages for Audi A8

Two new equipment packages can now be ordered for the Audi A8: the Audi comfort plus style package and the Audi sport plus style package. The new paint color Panther Black, crystal effect is now also available exclusively for the A8.

Equipped with the Audi comfort plus style package, the Audi A8 is finished in Night Blue, pearl effect and fitted with 19-inch forged aluminum wheels of 12-spoke design. The comfort seats are upholstered in silk beige Valcona leather; the full-leather trim for the center console, doors and dashboard is in silk beige Fine Nappa leather. The equipment package also includes heating for the front and rear seats, and front seats with seat ventilation and massage function. The “adaptive light” system with LED daytime running lights is another special feature. The Audi comfort plus style package costs between € 4,200 and €14,500, depending on engine version.

The Audi product program also includes the Audi sport plus style package with all-new Panther Black, crystal effect paint, which was developed exclusively for the A8. This package includes “adaptive light” with LED daytime running lights, sports seats in goa beige Valcona leather and heating for the front seats. The center console, doors and lower dashboard are trimmed in black Fine Nappa leather. 20-inch “S design” cast aluminum wheels in a dark steel finish round out the exterior of the new equipment version of the Audi A8.

The Audi sport plus style package costs between € 2,100 and € 9,600, depending on engine version.

A8 fans are excited that their beloved W12 Engine Audi will return with star Jason Statham in one of France’s best exports, the Transporter series. Transporter 3 drops November 26th in theaters and the trailer looks fantastic! (especially with that Iggy Pop song in the background) And to keep you at bay until then, Audipedia has a bit of car porn for all in the form of lovely Transporter 2 & 3 stills. 2010 Audi A8 Revealed?

2010′s Audi A8 has a more slopped down front end, giving it a rugged brow and an expression of “get the hell out of my way!” Although we have to admit, we’re a little disappointed that 2010′s A8 series was not as fanciful as original concept photos led us to believe. Still, The next generation of A8′s (which Audi confirms is scheduled to continue its run through 2012) is as fast and furious as its predecessors. If the car is good enough for Jason Statham, than it’s good enough for us!

Jason Statham is back as Ex-Special Forces member Frank Martin – and this time the package he has to deliver is extra sensitive, and the consequences include his own life – well, at least his right hand. With a sonic detonator strapped to his wrist, Martin needs to deliver his human cargo to their recipient or else he and his sexy Audi A8 will be blown to tiny bits. Fans of the first two Transporter features will love that original writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen have returned to pen this installment – so expect 90 minutes of insane automotive stunts, intense explosions, gunfire, sexual innuendo and Statham catapulting in and out of various windows or doorways. Check out Transporter 3′s trailer we have posted up in Audipedia’s video section.

Fans of Audi will love the A8 W-12 returning to the silver screen. “W-12″ combines two Audi V6 engine, along with a mix of special effects and top Audi technology, keeping this car in the air almost as much as it’s on the ground. Or, maybe just up on two wheels.

The Transporter has relocated to beautiful Paris in an attempt to stay low-key while running his illegal delivery service. “Low-key” – hard to do when your hobbies include driving into other cars and kickboxing armed thugs. We hope Audi and Statham continue to partner up in many sequels to come.
